Review: Infinix GT 20 Pro – Best Budget Gaming Phone 2025

If you love playing games on your phone but don’t have the money to buy super expensive devices like iPhones or Samsung flagships, then this review is for you.

Mobile gaming has grown so big that almost every young person today wants a phone that can handle heavy games like PUBG, Call of Duty Mobile, Genshin Impact, and Free Fire without freezing or slowing down.

The problem is, most powerful gaming phones cost a fortune. But here’s the good news: Infinix has stepped into the game with the Infinix GT 20 Pro, a phone that promises to give you strong gaming performance without emptying your wallet.

In this article, which is part of my tech reviews, I’ll be breaking down everything you need to know about the Infinix GT 20 Pro — its design, display, gaming performance, battery life, camera, and overall value.

By the end, you’ll know if this phone really deserves the crown of the best budget gaming phone in 2025.

Quick Specs Overview

Before diving deep, let’s look at the important numbers that make up the Infinix GT 20 Pro.

Processor: MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate

GPU: Mali-G610 MC6 (handles the graphics for games)

Display: 6.78-inch AMOLED, 144Hz refresh rate, Full HD+ resolution

RAM & Storage: 8GB or 12GB RAM, 256GB storage (expandable with virtual RAM)

Battery: 5,000 mAh with 45W fast charging

Cameras: 108MP main, 2MP macro, 2MP depth, 32MP front camera

Software: Android 14 with XOS skin (custom Infinix interface)

Price Range: Around $300 (₦450,000 – ₦480,000 in Nigeria, GH₵4,000 – GH₵4,200 in Ghana depending on where you buy)

At first glance, these specs look very promising for anyone who wants performance at a friendly price. Now let’s see how these specs work in real life.

Design and Build Quality

One of the first things you’ll notice about the Infinix GT 20 Pro is its gamer-inspired design. It has sharp lines, futuristic patterns on the back, and even RGB lights that glow when you get notifications or play games. It feels like holding a small gaming console in your hand.

The phone is slightly heavier than normal budget devices, but that’s because of the strong build and large battery inside.

During long gaming sessions, it sits comfortably in the hand, although you might need to take breaks if your hands get sweaty.

For durability, it uses a mix of glass and plastic. The edges feel firm, and the buttons are well-placed for easy access. Overall, the design screams “gaming” and doesn’t look like a boring budget phone at all.

Display & Visual Experience

If there’s one area where the Infinix GT 20 Pro shines, it’s the display. The phone comes with a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with 144Hz refresh rate. Now, let’s explain this simply.

AMOLED means colors are super bright and vibrant. Games look alive, and watching movies feels like a mini cinema.

144Hz refresh rate means the screen refreshes 144 times every second. The higher this number, the smoother everything looks. Imagine comparing a cartoon that shows 30 pictures per second vs one that shows 144 — the second will look way smoother.

For gamers, this is gold. Whether you’re shooting enemies in COD Mobile or racing in Asphalt 9, the animations are buttery smooth. Even scrolling through social media feels like sliding on glass.

The brightness is strong enough for outdoor use, so you won’t struggle under the sun. This display alone makes it feel like a premium device, even though it’s a budget one.

Performance & Gaming Test

Now to the heart of this review: gaming performance.

The Infinix GT 20 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate chip. To put it simply, this is the engine that drives the phone. It’s very powerful for a mid-range device. Pair it with the Mali-G610 GPU and up to 12GB of RAM, and you have a machine that can handle heavy-duty gaming.

I tested it with popular games:

PUBG Mobile: Runs smoothly at Ultra HD graphics and 90fps. No stutter, no lag.

Call of Duty Mobile: Extremely smooth with max settings. The 144Hz screen makes the shooting action fluid.

Genshin Impact: This game is heavy, but the GT 20 Pro holds up well. You can play on high settings with only slight warming after about 40 minutes.

Free Fire & Mobile Legends: No problems at all, runs like butter.

What’s impressive is that the phone doesn’t overheat badly. Yes, it gets a bit warm after long gaming, but thanks to its liquid cooling system, it never gets to the point of discomfort.

In short, if you want the best budget gaming phone for smooth performance, this device deserves a top spot.

Battery Life & Charging

A powerful gaming phone is useless if the battery dies quickly. Thankfully, the Infinix GT 20 Pro comes with a 5,000 mAh battery that easily lasts a whole day of mixed use (gaming, browsing, social media, videos).

For gaming alone, you can squeeze around 7–8 hours of continuous play on medium brightness. That’s impressive for its price.

When it comes to charging, the 45W fast charging gets you from 0 to 100% in about 1 hour. That means even if you run out of juice, a short 15-minute charge can give you enough battery to keep gaming for hours.

Cameras (Secondary but Useful)

Now let’s be honest: people buying the Infinix GT 20 Pro are mainly interested in gaming, not photography. Still, Infinix didn’t leave the camera empty.

The 108MP main camera takes clear, sharp photos during the day. Colors are natural, and details are solid.

Low-light photos are average — not terrible, but not flagship level either.

The 32MP front camera is good for selfies and video calls, clear enough for TikTok or Instagram.

If you’re buying this phone for gaming, the cameras will serve you just fine for everyday pictures. They won’t compete with iPhones or Samsungs, but they’re good enough for the price.

Software & User Experience

The Infinix GT 20 Pro runs on Android 14 with Infinix’s XOS skin. The software feels smooth, though there’s some pre-installed apps (bloatware) that you might not need. Luckily, most can be uninstalled.

For gamers, Infinix added Game Mode features that boost performance, block notifications while playing, and even record gameplay. This is a nice touch for those who want distraction-free gaming.

One small drawback is that Infinix isn’t always the fastest at giving Android updates. You might get 2–3 years of updates, which is fine for a budget phone, but not as long as Samsung or Google phones.

Value for Money

Here’s the real question: is the Infinix GT 20 Pro worth your money?

At around $300 (₦450,000 in Nigeria, GH₵4,000 in Ghana), you’re getting:

A stunning AMOLED 144Hz display

Flagship-level gaming performance

Long battery life with fast charging

Stylish gaming design

When compared to competitors like Poco X6 Pro or Tecno Phantom V Flip, the Infinix GT 20 Pro holds its ground very well, especially for gaming.

So yes, in terms of value, this device truly fights for the crown of the best budget gaming phone.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

Super smooth gaming performance

High refresh rate AMOLED display

Long-lasting 5,000 mAh battery

Fast 45W charging

Affordable for what it offers

Gamer-inspired design with RGB lights

Cons:

Cameras are average in low light

Some bloatware in the software

Software updates may be limited

Slight heating during heavy gaming (not extreme)

Conclusion & Final Verdict

After testing the Infinix GT 20 Pro, I can confidently say it’s one of the best budget gaming phones you can buy in 2025.

It delivers smooth performance, a bright and fast display, long battery life, and a design that feels built for gamers. While the cameras aren’t the best in the world and software updates could be better, these are small trade-offs considering the price.

If you’re a student, a young gamer, or just someone who wants strong performance without breaking the bank, the Infinix GT 20 Pro is an easy recommendation.

In my list of tech reviews, this phone deserves a high rating because it gives you flagship-like gaming power for a fraction of the cost. For now, it’s safe to say the Infinix GT 20 Pro stands tall as one of the best budget gaming phones in 2025.
